                   Chapter One: A New Wind


     WindKit opened her eyes and she saw fuzzy shapes. Cat's maybe? No. The became clear. Dogs? No. Wolfs! YES. She slowly got up and walked around. The other wolves were still sleeping. There was one big wolf bigger than the rest. Mommy maybe? Her mom slowly rose from the ground and came over to WindKit. "What shall I name you?" her mother said. WindKit's 6 other siblings just now started to stir. In another five minutes I will meet my siblings! Will they accept me? Or deny me? WindKit thought.


         By now the others were awake. WindKit dashed into a corner of the den and hid. Why are they all so much bigger than me? She thought. Three of the girls came over to WindKit. Two of them started snickering. She didn't like it. Her own siblings were picking on her. They started calling her names like shorty and little really horrible things that WindKit didn't like. Then that wolf that wasn't laughing at her or calling  her names came over to her and said she was sorry for the other two picking on her. And WindKit thought, Maybe we can actually become friends! And they did.


         WindKit's mom recently interrupted their playing and called WindKit over. "You are special! Maybe you are the one of the prophecy..." she whispered. "Come stand over here for me." she asked. While WindKit was standing there the sun came up behind her and the wind rustled through her fur. Her mother gasped. "The wind will call....
Your father was right. You are the one of the prophecy. Your name is WindKit. That name was destined for you.....
